單詞 fast，quick 和 rapid 都表示“快”，其中 fast 和 quick 都既可以作形容詞，也都可以作副詞，且互為同義詞；fast 尤用以描述高速運動的人或事物，quick 較常用以描述迅速或立即完成的事，rapid 最常用於描述事物變化的速度，而非運動或完成的速度，例如：
